General Dentistry

At Blacktown Dental Group, we are steadfastly committed to ensuring our patients achieve and maintain optimal oral health.

We feature a broad array of general dentistry services to help you enjoy a healthy and beautiful smile.

When it comes to general dentistry, there are solutions to suit the needs of every member of your family. If you’ve been searching for exceptional general dentistry services under one roof, you’ve come to the right place. Our team will provide you with the high-quality care you need. We warmly welcome you!

Scale and Cleans/Checkups: Just as you likely take your car in to get it serviced at recommended intervals, coming in for regular cleans and checkups can help you maintain your smile. At your comprehensive checkup, we’ll clean your teeth, perform an exam and take any necessary X-rays. If you require further care, we can create a custom treatment plan that’s right for you.

Fillings: Despite practicing scrupulous oral hygiene habits, cavities can sometimes sneak up on us. When they do, we offer composite (white) fillings that are tooth-coloured. In years past, metal amalgam fillings were routinely used. White fillings are mercury-free and more aesthetically pleasing.

Custom Mouthguards: If you or your child plays a contact sport, it’s critical to wear a custom-fitted mouthguard. Over-the-counter mouthguards don’t provide adequate protection as they tend to shift in the mouth. We also offer bite splints if you grind your teeth. This type of mouthguard can shield your teeth from nighttime grinding and clenching.

Extractions: If you have a tooth that cannot be restored or is infected, we provide extractions. Local anaesthetic will be given to keep you completely comfortable. We’ll take diagnostics to determine the best way to go about your extraction, keeping the procedure efficient and simple for you.

Root Canal Treatment: With endodontic therapy (root canal treatment), we can save a damaged or infected tooth. We offer nitrous oxide and local anaesthetic to ensure your comfort during the procedure. You won’t have to face getting your tooth extracted or replacing it to fill the gap.

Wisdom Teeth Removal: Also called the third molars, wisdom teeth can sometimes become impacted. When they do, it’s usually advisable to remove them. We offer basic wisdom teeth removal. By taking out your wisdom teeth, you can avoid any additional pain or complications that may arise. If we find that your case is particularly complex, we’ll refer you to a specialist to have your extraction performed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you put nervous patients at ease?

Dental anxiety is highly common. Perhaps you had a negative experience visiting the dentist as a child. Some people experience nervousness even for routine cleanings, checkups and fillings. Our caring and compassionate team will help put you at ease. We also offer sedation options so you can get the dental care you need in complete comfort.

What causes sensitive teeth?

Many factors can cause teeth to become sensitive. These include chipping or fracturing of teeth. They also can become sensitive if you grind or clench them. Gum disease also can produce sensitivity. Dentin is the part of the tooth that expresses pain and most sensitivity is due to this porous portion of the tooth becoming exposed. If you have sensitive teeth please schedule a consultation with one of our dentists.

Do you recommend certain toothpastes over others?

While we don’t recommend any specific brand, we do encourage you to use a toothpaste that contains fluoride to reduce your chance of getting dental decay. We do encourage our patients to refrain from using abrasive toothpastes as they can damage enamel.
