Denture Cleaning

Just like your natural smile, a removable dental appliance can accumulate plaque deposits, stains and tartar buildup. Having it cleaned by a dental professional will prevent accidental damage or scratching, which will encourage even more staining.

Full and Partial Denture Cleaning

We’ve been fitting our patients with in-house dentures for over 20 years. With the right care, you can get more wear from your appliance. Bringing it by for a clean and polish allows you to enjoy fresher breath, reduce your risk of infection and enjoy a brighter smile.

We use special tools and solutions to gently — but effectively — clean your denture. Bring it by our practice at least 1-2 times per year for a cleaning or more often if you see stain buildup from the foods and drinks you consume.

During your visit we’ll also evaluate your mouth and appliance to ensure everything looks as it ought to. A regular exam and oral cancer screening are crucial for protecting your overall health.

Cleaning Your Denture at Home

Daily maintenance is crucial to keeping your denture clean of excess buildup.

Remove your denture each night to soak it in an approved cleansing solution. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive products, as these may permanently damage the surface. Clean your mouth with a soft toothbrush or washcloth. The next morning, clean your mouth again. Then gently brush the loosened residue off your denture, rinse it clean and put it back in your mouth.

Excessive denture wear can lead to infections such as thrush or accelerate bone loss within your jaw.
